About Know Your Lineage

I love genealogy.  I eat, drink, breath, and sleep family history.  I walk it.  I talk it.  It is who I am.   What more can I say?

My Training:

I am a Board Certified Genealogist through the Board of Certification of Genealogists (BCG).  Board Certified Genealogists undergo periodic competency evaluations, and hold their service marks for a period of five years before recertifying to demonstrate that their genealogical work continues to meet the standards of the field.

I won't lie.  Some of my training is self-taught over the course of many, many years.  However, I have successfully completed courses including the National Genealogical Society's (NGS) Introduction to Civil War Research, Federal Population Census Schedules, Working with Deeds, and Transcriptions, Abstracts and Extracts.  I've also completed the NGS Home Study Course American Genealogy that included classes on Family Group Sheets, Family Traditions and Family Records, Interviewing, Correspondence and Queries, Library and Archive Research, Census, Vital, Church, Probate and Court Records, State and Federal Land Records, Local Land Records, Migration Studies and Resources, Passenger Lists, Naturalization Records, Military Records, Evidence Analysis and Kinship and writing Biographies.  If that is not enough, I have also attended the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy in addition to attending national genealogical conferences.

Other Stuff:

I regularly listen to historical lectures, enjoy genealogical trips and seldom, if ever, turn down opportunities to visit the Salt Lake Family History Library.  You can also add to the list visits to cemeteries - any cemetery - and various vaults and basements of courthouses.  Now that's my idea of a vacation!

Navigating this site:

I am assuming you are here for a reason.  Looking for an introduction to genealogy?  How to's? Blank ancestor charts?  I've got you covered. Check out the "Introduction to Genealogy" page.  Want to see samples of my work?  You'll find that on the "My Creations" page.  Have a need for a professional genealogist?  Go to the "My Services" page.  And the "Genealogical Resources & Information" page covers different websites, education, software, DNA, and other tidbits of information.  Have a question, suggestion or correction?  Feel free to contact me using the "Contact" page. Of course, if you are just passing through, that's okay too.  I am sure you won't go away empty handed.  But do stop by again.  The plan is to add stuff and update frequently.  Have a fabulous day.
